Grandma's Sour Dough Rolls

It's best to use pre-made starter, but if you don't have one you may try to make your own.

Step 1: To make the starter for biscuits add 1 cup flour and 1 cup warm water to bottle, stir well, let set in warm place for awhile until it bubbles and rises. Pour out 2 cups into a large glass bowl add 1/2 cup canned milk (always use canned milk), 1/2 cup warm water, 3 cups flour. Stir this up well, cover bowl and let work all night in a warm place.

Step 2:
2 cups flour
1 t. soda
2 t. baking powder
2 T. sugar
1 t. salt
3 cups flour

Make biscuits in large glass bowl add 2 cups flour, soda, baking powder, sugar and salt. Mix with wooden spoon. Have 3 cups flour on mixing board. Make "well" in flour and pour above mixture in it. Mix and knead well, if dough seems stiff add a little hot water when mixing it. Roll out about 1/2 to 3/4 inch high, cut out and dip in melted butter. Place in greased dripper pan, cover and let rise 1 hour in warm place. Bake 30 minutes at 350, (increase heat a little if at high altitude). Makes about 2 dozen biscuits, can be frozen and heated up.

To keep starter going after you take 2 cups out to make biscuits, add 1 cup flour and 1 cup warm water, stir well and let rise in warm place, stir down and put in fridge to keep it. Never add anything but flour and water to starter.
